Sony 4K Action Cam

If you love Sony’s Action Cam, you’ll love it even more because at CES 2015, the company just took the curtains off its most powerful POV camera to date with the 4K Action Cam that, as its name suggests, can now capture videos in 4K resolution.

After capturing a stunning video at 3840 x 2160 @ 30p resolution, users can easily play the content back on a compatible 4K TV directly via a HDMI cable. The new Action Cam also features enhanced HD video performance with upgraded video stabilisation, video quality and high frame rate shooting.

The Action Cam FDR-X1000V packs a ZEISS Tessar lens with an ultra-wide angle 170 degree field of view, allowing you to capture more in a single frame. It also features a back-illuminated Exmor R CMOS sensor and BIONZ X processor that can churn out the best video quality and remain consistent across all shooting environment.

Other improvements on the new Action Cam includes SteadyShot stabilisation technology with electronic image stabilisation for clear, vibration-free ariel footage using drones, the ability to shoot HD video footage at extremely high frame rates of 120p in Full HD and 240p in standard HD that allows for impressive slow-mo footage, expanded manual controls, and loop recording.

For those who do not require something so advanced, Sony also introduced a new HD Action Cam AS200V with enhanced image quality. It shares many of the same features as the X1000V like full pixel readout image, improved image stabilisation, clean HDMI output and upgraded manual controls, however, it records videos at a maximum resolution of 1080p/50Mbps at 60p. It can also capture videos at 720p video at 120p and WVGA videos at 240p.
