@Kalars07 We plan to upgrade all Windows Phone 8 devices to Windows 10 in the future 🙂

In response to a user’s question, Microsoft has confirmed that the all Windows Phone 8 devices will be getting free upgrades to the software giant’s upcoming operating system, Windows 10. Details regarding the upcoming OS are scarce as Microsoft is currently working on Windows 10 for computers.
It should be noted that in the tweet, the company specifically stated that its latest OS will be called Windows 10 and not Windows Phone 10. It would seem that the individual who tweeted the question to the official Lumia account did so, hoping that Microsoft would not repeat the same mistake as they have where they did not allow Windows Phone 7 users to upgrade to the latest OS at that time, Windows Phone 8.
This comes as good news to existing Windows Phone 8 users as they would not need to purchase a brand new phone if they wish to upgrade to Windows 10 in the near future. Users should be able to expect the Windows 10 phones to launch some time in 2015 as that is also when the latest OS will launch for computers.
It’s understandable if the names for operating systems on Microsoft’s devices are confusing at times as the company is planning to unify its devices under a single operating system such as the Lumia phones, personal computers and the Xbox One console.
