If you’re as excited as I am about the next generation Sony Cyber-shot Lens Style cameras then here’s a leak that might blow you off your seat – the Sony QX1 Lens Style camera with E-mount attachment. Yes, this means that with E-mount attachment, you can practically connect any lens for the Sony Alpha series of mirror less cameras to your smartphone.
Sony Alpha Rumors and Xperia blog have both gotten their hands on a set of images for the QX1 smartphone accessory. The new accessory is said to be splitting up the image sensor from the lens, making it possible to attach any E-mount lenses to the QX1.
The original Lens Style cameras – QX10 and QX100, were both amazing devices. On top of giving much better image quality than your typical smartphone (we compared it to an iPhone 5 camera in our review), the QX10 gives you a 10x optical zoom, while the QX100 uses the same lens found on the Sony RX100. However, both the QX10 and QX100 were a little too expensive with a retail price of RM699 and RM1,499 respectively.
The QX1 is still expensive too with a rumoured price of 300 Euro for body only (about RM1,260) or 450 Euro (RM1,890) with a 16-50mm lens, but if you are already a Sony NEX (now known as Sony Alpha) user with few E-mount lenses lying around, it sounds like an awesome idea to expand your imaging capability to your smartphone as well, right?
Finally, just in case you’re wondering, yes, that’s the Sony Xperia Z3 the QX1 is attached on. Sony is expect to announce the QX1 lens style camera, Sony Xperia Z3, Z3 Compact and Z3 Tablet Compact at its IFA 2014 event happening later tonight so stay tuned!
Meanwhile, if you don’t fancy waiting for months for the QX1 to arrive into Malaysia, the QX10 and QX100 are a lot more affordable now with a price of RM489 and RM1,049 respectively and even comes with a free Krusell QX PU case. It’s a time limited promotion from 1st to 30th September 2014 (while stocks last), so check out Sony Malaysia’s online store to get one right now.
