Nike To Kill Fuelband?

Nike+ FuelBand SE

According to a report from CNET, it looks like Nike has laid off certain key people from the team responsible for the FuelBand fitness tracker. Roughly 55 employees were let go from Nike’s Digital Sport hardware team that covers industrial design and engineering for wearables. According to spokesperson Brian Strong, the company will “make changes within the team, and there will be a small number of layoffs.”

This doesn’t mean that wearables are completely not on the radar for Nike as there have been rumours for a while now pointing towards an Apple manufactured piece of hardware for the future of Nike wearable and that seems the most likely after this report. Let’s hope that the Fuelband will come up to par with the rest of the wearables in its future iterations.
