Google Earth with Street View

South Korea’s communications watchdog has fined Google some 212.3 million Won (RM663,649) for illegally collecting personal data without people’s consent. The announcement, which was made on Tuesday, comes as a result of Google’s Street View service unwittingly capturing personal data while shooting images of streets across the country.

The Korea Communications Commission has ordered Google to delete all data collected in this way and keep user updated with their progress on the deletion.

This is not the first country to have fined Google for this infringement as  it was fined €145,000 (RM662,015) in Germany and€100,000 (RM456,562) in France; while it settled the case in the U.S. for US$7 million (RM23,422,000).
