Lenovo Malaysia recently updated its notebook lineup for the IdeaPad Z, U, and S series of laptops, as well as the C series All-in-One desktop and the introduction of the new IdeaPad Yoga 11s hybrid laptop. Now featuring touch displays and refreshed Intel 3rd generation Core processors, the new notebook lineup from Lenovo is not more optimized for Windows 8 than ever before.

Article continues after the jump.

The refreshed models essentially add new multitouch displays on Lenovo’s mainstream notebooks, in line with the touch-optimized Windows 8 operating system that is fast becoming the norm. From entry level notebooks to the company’s Ultrabooks, there is now a touchscreen laptop for every price point in the market.

At the lowest end is the very competitively priced S400 Touch. Featuring a chassis that is less than 1 inch thick, the new S400 Touch can now be configured with up to 3rd gen Intel Core i7 processors, 8GB of RAM, NVIDIA GeForce GT710M GPU, and up to a 1TB hard disk with 24GB SSD. This 14-inch laptop now also sports a 1366 x 768 multitouch LED display, while adding another USB 3.0 port for a total of four USB ports. The other connectivity ports remain the same as the first-gen S400.

Lenovo also introduced two new models to the mainstream Z series family: the Z400 Touch and Z500 touch. Featuring new 10-point touch LED displays, the new Z400 Touch and Z500 Touch can be configured with up to 3rd gen Intel Core i7 processors, 4GB of RAM, 1TB hard disks (with 24GB SSD for the Z500), and NVIDIA GeForce GT740M graphics. Both Z series laptops will have 3 USB ports (1 USB 3.0), and the Z500 will also sport a DVD writer/Blu-ray reader combo drive (Z400 only sports a DVD burner).

The U Series Ultrabook was also given a much-need boost with the U410 refresh. Now powered by the new 3rd gen Intel Core i5-3337U processor (1.8GHz up to 2.7GHz with Turbo Boost), the 2kg and 20mm thin U410 Touch also sports a 14-inch 1366 x 768 multi-touch display, 4GB of RAM, 500GB hard disk with 24GB SSD, 4 USB ports (2x USB 3.0), and an NVIDIA GeForce GT710M GPU.

In addition, the C Series all-in-one desktop also gets a refresh. The IdeaCentre C440 Touch is powered by an Intel Core i5-3330S processor (2.7GHz, up to 3.2GHz with Turbo Boost), and is equipped wit 4GB of RAM, 1TB 7200rpm SATA hard disk, an NVIDIA GeForce GT615 GPU, and 6 USB 2.0 ports. The display on Lenovo’s latest IdeaCentre is a 21.5-inch Full HD touch display.

Finally, there is the much-awaited IdeaPad Yoga 11S, which finally brings Windows 8 to the 11-inch form factor Yoga hybrid laptop. Available with either 3rd gen Intel Core i3 or i5 processors and up to 512GB SSDs, the new Yoga 11S sports the same 11.6-inch 1366 x 768 IPS touch display with the unique hinge that allows the display to be flipped 360 degrees. This 1.4kg hybrid laptop also sports 2 USB ports (1 USB 3.0), integrated stereo speakers, a card reader as well as a HDMI port.

The refreshed Lenovo notebook lineup’s pricing and availability are follows:

  • Lenovo IdeaPad S400 Touch: From RM2199 in Dark Brown, available from the end of June
  • Lenovo IdeaPad Z400 Touch: From RM1599 in Dark Chocolate, available now
  • Lenovo IdeaPad Z500 Touch: From RM2399 in Dark Chocolate, available now
  • Lenovo IdeaPad U410 Touch Ultrabook: RM2699 in Graphite Grey, available now
  • Lenovo IdeaCentre C440 Touch All-in-One: RM2099 in Dark Brown, available from the end of June
  • Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga 11S: From RM2599 in Silver Grey & Clementine Orange, available from the end of June

Interestingly, Lenovo also had some details to reveal regarding its future plans. As can be seen above, Lenovo’s gaming-oriented Y Series of laptops has not been refreshed and, more importantly, none of the devices above feature Intel’s latest Haswell processors. According to Lenovo Malaysia’s Country General Manager, Khoo Hung Chuan, we may be seeing the new additions to the Y Series in two months, while the Haswell-powered laptops from Lenovo should be making its way here around September.
