Looks like LG is the latest company to provide hardware security options for enterprises mobile users. With BlackBerry’s position as the undisputed enterprise security arena under increasing scrutiny due to its fragile financial figures as well as Samsung’s push for its KNOX security suite, LG’s making the big step into enterprise security with its own offering, called LG Gate.
Uninspiring name choice aside, LG Gate offers essentially the same set of security options as BlackBerry Balance and Samsung KNOX do: hardware level data encryption, email and other sensitive data being transferred via VPN, and also offering separate environments for work and personal data. As usual, the mobile device management within LG Gate offers IT departments easier options to manage a Bring Your Own Device setup for the office.
So far there isn’t anything concrete yet as to when LG plans to roll out its new Gate enterprise security suite, but Engadget speculates it will most probably be available around the same time the company’s G2 flagship smartphone becomes available in the US.
