I’m sure you’re all aware of the lens-style cameras from Sony that was introduced back at IFA as well as a Malaysian launch event. The unique lenses will be heading to our shores some time in October but before that, we’ve already showed you a hands on video of Mr. Masahiko Ishida of Digital Imaging Product Marketing, Sony Malaysia, demonstrating how the QX100 works, and now, it’s time for some sample images taken at the Malaysian launch of Sony’s latest range of cameras.

YouTube video

First up, pairing the lens up with an Xperia smartphone is pretty easy, just tap the NFC together and it will connect automatically. As for iPhone or an Android smartphone without NFC, each lens-style camera will come with its unique password located on the lens itself so you can connect to it manually via Wi-Fi. Capturing an image can be done using the shutter button located on the lens itself, or on your smartphone.

Hit the break for the sample images.

If there were one thing I dislike most about the whole thing, it would have to be how long it takes for each image to be transferred to your device straight after you capture it. I’m not quite sure if you can turn that off and have it save on the lens only, but if it could, it would be a whole lot more user friendly and it will definitely save you precious space on your smartphone too – each file size could easily be as huge as 6MB.
