If you’re one of those who frequently misplace your phone, here’s a piece of good news, Google just announced the Android Device Manager. Much like Find My iPhone on iOS and even the My Xperia app from Sony which was announced last month, you can remotely locate and ring your misplaced device, and protect your personal information and data.
Of course, this is nothing new and such service has been available for many years now, but it’s good to know that it’s officially available from Google for all Android devices. Android Device Manager allows you to locate and ring your device. It uses maximum volume so you can hear your phone ringing even if it’s been wedged in between the big cushions of your sofa. There’s also a map for that to show you the precise location of your device, just in case you’ve lost or someone has stolen it. In the event that your device can’t be found, you can also wipe out all the data on your device using Android Device Manager.
The service will be available later this month on all Android devices running on 2.2 and above.
