Who says mid-range Android devices have to be big, bulky, plasticky and feel like a toy phone? HTC recently introduced its Desire X, a sleek mid-end Android ICS smartphone powered by a 1GHz dual-core processor. Just a quick introduction, the Desire X may be a mid-range device with average specs, but it packs the same f2.0 camera as the One X along with a dedicated HTC ImageChip. Audio wise, it is also equipped with Beats Audio for a rich and authentic experience with any content.

Other specs include 4GB of internal memory expandable via microSD slot, 768MB RAM, GPS, 5MP rear shooter, 1650mAh battery, measures at 118.5mm x 62.3mm x 9.3mm, and weighs 114grams. The best part of it is that it’s upgradable to Android Jelly Bean. Although HTC did not mention any timeframe, at least we know for sure it’s coming, even though I’m sure some of you are already looking forward to Android 4.2 Key Lime Pie already.

Hit the break for more pictures.

We had a chance to get our hands on the Desire X recently and frankly speaking with the design, HTC could pull it off by calling it a One X Mini. HTC even used similar, if not the same, material as it did on the One X that I mentioned in my review before, can be easily cleaned using an eraser.

I love how snuggly the Desire X fits into my hands, its 4” display is the perfect size for its thin frame and bezel. What makes the Desire X sexy is how the display covers the entire front with three on-screen buttons located at the bottom. The Micro USB slot is located on the left of the device while the 3.5mm audio jack and power button are both on top.

One thing I dislike about the Desire X is the tiny little protruding part at the bottom but that’s just me, I hate chins on phones. It’s very minimal, but enough to annoy me.

HTC Desire X retails at RM1,199 and is available at Cubic Platforms. For now, they are offering the Desire X along with a free Bluetooth Car Speaker worth RM300 at HTC@Gardens and HTC@Pavillion outlets.
