Remember the YouTube video on the Lumia 900 being used as a hammer (and a more than decent one, at that)? Well, it looks like some feel it’s ready to compete against the indestructible phone (if internet memes are to be believed): the Nokia 3310.
The video above starts off pretty normally, with the drop test. Here the Lumia 900’s very impressive industrial design and build quality leaves it virtually unscathed when dropped both from the back and corner from a height of four feet. Only when dropped screen-first does the screen crack badly, but even then the phone worked normally.
Next, it was the 3310’s turn. For all three drop tests (from the back, corner, and front – all from four feet) the 3310’s changeable front covers fell off, but when reassembled, everything worked perfectly fine.
So how did they determine which is better? The destruction test, of course…with a sledgehammer. Granted, they smashed the Lumia 900 repeatedly (the slow-mo replay is not for the weak of heart) but only smashed the 3310 once. Even so, mind you, this is a blow from a sledgehammer. And it was still functioning afterwards!
The Nokia 3310: reputation as intact as its innards after a sledgehammer blow.
P/S: Is it just me, or is the slow motion camera really, really good?
