After a fairly considerable number of leaks, the latest generation of Samsung flagship tablets has officially launched. As expected, the new lineup comprises two models, namely the Galaxy Tab S12+ and the Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra. With this update, the South Korean tech giant is mostly focusing on software.
Both models are the first of the brand’s tablets to feature Adobe Photoshop. In fact, the company is throwing in four months of free access to the Photoshop mobile plan. The software is optimised for tablets and also comes with support for the S Pen, which comes in the box. Other creative tools include Clip Studio Paint and LumaFusion.
Unsurprisingly, AI remains another focus. The devices are home to three AI agents: Bixby, Gemini, and Perplexity. Users can quickly access these assistants via the built-in Galaxy AI key. The brand is also prioritising multitasking and productivity, with DeX support and a multi-window layout that splits the screen into three sections.
Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra
In terms of hardware, the fancier Ultra model retains many of the same features as its predecessor. Essentially, we’re looking at a massive 14.6-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X panel with a 2,960 x 1,848 pixel resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, and 1,600 nits of peak brightness. Other features include a four-channel quad-speaker setup and an IP68 rating.
Internally, the device packs a MediaTek Dimensity 9500 chipset, paired with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, with the latter being expandable up to 2TB via microSD card. Keeping the lights on is the same 11,600mAh battery with 45W wired charging support. Additionally, a newly designed 3D vapour changer is on board for heat management. On the software side, the tablet runs on Android 17 via One UI 9. For connectivity, the tablet supports WiFi 7 and Bluetooth 6.0. A 5G-enabled variant is available for those who want a cellular option, of course.
For imaging, the device sports a 13MP main camera and an 8MP ultrawide lens on the rear. Meanwhile, the front camera uses a 12MP sensor.
Galaxy Tab S12+
Arguably, the Galaxy Tab S12+ gets the more significant upgrades, considering its precursor launched two years ago. Samsung has equipped the new model with a slightly bigger 12.6-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X screen with slimmer bezels. That said, the resolution remains unchanged at 2,800 x 1,752 pixels. This panel also offers a 120Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 1,600 nits. The tablet also features the same speaker setup as its sibling, as well as an IP68 rating.
Like its Ultra counterpart, the tablet comes with a MediaTek Dimensity 9500 SoC. It also comes in a single 12GB + 256GB configuration. For those needing more storage, the microSD card slot now supports up to 2TB. Meanwhile, the battery gets a slight jump from 10,090mAh to 10,600mAh. Charging speed remains at 45W, however. For software, the tablet runs on One UI 9. Connectivity features include WiFi 6E and Bluetooth 6.0, with 5G as an option.
Now, there is one notable downgrade. Samsung has dropped the ultrawide camera from this model, leaving just a single 13MP lens on the rear. On the front, the tablet’s 12MP sensor is hidden in the bezel.
Availability And Pricing
The Samsung Galaxy Tab S12 series will be available in Malaysia from 7 October 2026 onwards, with your choice between Gray and Silver finishes. Customers will also be able to purchase optional accessories like the Book Cover Keyboard Slim, Book Cover, Frame Cover, and anti-reflective screen protectors, though the Frame Cover is limited to the Ultra only.
The Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra will be priced at RM5,999 for the WiFi-only model and RM6,649 for the 5G variant. Meanwhile, the WiFi and 5G versions of the Galaxy Tab S12+ will retail for RM4,999 and RM5,649 respectively. In conjunction with the launch, Samsung is offering an up to RM500 rebate with any debit or credit bank cards, or SPayLater. Other goodies include Book Cover Keyboard and S Pen accessories worth up to RM1,208, and pre-loaded applications like Gemini, Adobe Photoshop, Notability and iQIYI worth RM1,123.58. Worth noting that the promotion will last until 8 November 2026.
