Following the most recent Nintendo Direct, the Japanese video games company made two major announcements regarding The Legend of Zelda series. One is that the Ocarina of Time remake has a release date of early November this year. The other is that a week ahead of the game’s release, the company is launching the first special edition of the Switch 2.
Starting with the game, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time will mostly be a faithful remake, but with overhauled visuals, as well as voiced cutscenes, expanded character dialogue, and even symphonic orchestral music. The game can also interact with the Zelda Notes app, helping you find in-game locations in a similar manner as it did for Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom on the Nintendo Switch 2. The game will launch on 5 November, and while it’s not listed on local sites yet, it has a US$59.99 (~RM244) price tag attached to it.

Speaking of the Switch 2, the console is also getting its first ever special edition version. It’s not so much in conjunction with the Ocarina of Time remake as it is for the series’ 40th anniversary, but to be fair, the company did say that the game itself is also made for the 40th anniversary. With that in mind, rather than visual elements specific to the one particular title, the special edition Switch 2 has a more general, Triforce theme to it instead.
The Triforce symbol is represented with gold on the left Joy-Con, the back of the main unit and the dock, with green and black making up the rest of the hardware shell. This motif is also applied to the Pro Controller and Carrying Case, which launch alongside the special edition Switch 2 but are unfortunately sold separately.
The Nintendo Switch 2 – The Legend of Zelda – 40th Anniversary Edition releases on 29 October, exactly a week before the Ocarina of Time remake, as do the Pro Controller and the Carrying Case. These are also not yet listed on the local sites, but their price tags are US$519.99 (~RM2,116), US$109.99 (~RM448), and US$39.99 (~RM163), respectively.
