G.Skill has launched a new line of DDR5 RAM, the Flare X5X. The new series comes with several features, but more importantly, it’s low profile and has a discrete design.
The discrete look is minimalist by design, and devoid of RGB lighting, providing a clean aesthetic. Ultimately, this set of memory kit is all about performance and not the bling.
“Introducing the new Flare X5X series DDR5 memory, with initial launch specification of DDR5-6000 CL36-36-36-76 32GB. Continuing G.SKILL’s long-standing commitment to memory overclocking technology and high-speed memory, the Flare X5X series DDR5 is designed for users seeking high performance and a clean, minimalist hardware aesthetic. Supporting the latest AMD EXPO Technology: Featuring Ultra Low Latency, also known as AMD EXPO ULL, the Flare X5X series overclocking profile leverages fine-tuned memory sub-timings for performance with supported AMD CPU, motherboard, and BIOS.”
As per the official statement, the Flare X5X is available in one frequency, 6,000MT/s, with CL timings of 36-36-36-72. Also, it currently comes in one configuration, 32GB (16GB x2) in dual-channel.
To reiterate, it is also AMD EXPO memory, making it ideal for AMD systems, and specifically, the AM5 chipset. “The new Flare X5X series comes with AMD EXPO ULL that includes multiple extra-tuned memory sub-timing settings in the overclocking profile, which help deliver better latency performance at the same memory speed.”
At the time of writing, G.Skill has not specified pricing for the Flare X5X, and given the current memory climate and shortage, we can’t imagine it’ll be cheap. Because of its tighter, faster timing, EXPO ULL DDR5 RAM tends to cost a small fortune.
G.Skill already has another lineup of EXPO ULL DDR5 RAM on sale, the Trident Z5 NeoX, with CAS30 and CAS36 timings. Those currently retail for US$620 (~RM2,503) and US$550 (~RM2,220) on average, respectively.
