CD Projekt Red (CDPR) is giving The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt even more love as the studio builds up to the fourth game. A few months after announcing the third expansion for the former, called Songs of the Past, the company has now announced that the entirety of the game is getting a remaster. And beyond just the graphics upgrade, it will also come with mechanical improvements. This even includes a skill tree revamp, according to the trailer the company put out.
First things first though. CDPR says that, if you already own The Witcher 3 on “qualifying platforms”, you get to upgrade to the Remastered version for free. In this case, “qualifying platforms” basically means every platform the game is on, as it lists GOG, Steam, Epic Games Store, PS5, Xbox Series X and S, as well as Battle.net. And for those who just own the base game, you’ll be getting the first two expansions, Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine, for free.
As mentioned, one of the changes that will come with The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Remastered is the revamped skill tree. Other mechanical changes include enhanced combat, improved traversal and movement in general, revamped mount handling, enhanced monster behaviours, as well as new finishers. There’s also an expanded photo mode for those who are so inclined, as well as armour transmog. It’s a pretty expansive list, even without going into the minutiae of the exact changes.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Remastered will launch on 29 September. This also serves as the game’s launch on Nintendo Switch 2, rather than running the first Switch’s version. According to Nintendo Everything, even the Switch 1 version will be benefitting from the free upgrade. CDPR has also announced that the Songs of the Past will be releasing sometime in 2027, and more recently, The Witcher 4 will be out in 2028 instead.
