Shell Malaysia officially unveiled its Shell Recharge App, marking its expansion in the electric vehicle (EV) scene. In conjunction with the launch, the fuel company is offering a special one-day promotion with a pricing of RM1.11 per kWh.

The application is available on both the Google Play Store and Apple App Store. It’s loaded with several features, including a quick payment function that allows customers to link their debit and credit cards for easy transactions. The Shell Recharge App also offers live charging updates and a “Find Charger Easily” function, enabling users to locate the nearest Shell charging stations conveniently.

Another key feature is “Cross-Border Roaming”, which allows the app to be used in Malaysia and Singapore, currently. According to Seow Lee Ming, General Manager of Shell Mobility & Convenience Malaysia, the company plans to expand the roaming feature to Thailand in the future. She also mentioned the upcoming Shell Recharge station on the East Coast Expressway (Temerloh – KL bound), stating that it will be launched soon. “My team and leadership team are working very hard to ensure that it comes online as soon as possible, hopefully by this year,” she added.

In terms of pricing, Shell Recharge AC charging is currently priced at RM1.10 per kWh, while DC charging costs RM2.20 per kWh. However, Lee Ming noted that Shell Malaysia will be moving towards dynamic pricing in the future, meaning prices may vary based on demand and the utilisation of the chargers in each location.

Lee Ming also confirmed that the ParkEasy application, which was acquired by Shell Malaysia, will be decommissioned by the end of this month. “With the introduction of the Shell Recharge application, we want to be laser-focused on enhancing customer experience and convenience,” she said. She also advised customers to transfer their remaining credit to the new app to avoid any inconvenience in the future.
