Nissan has previewed its facelifted Ariya EV SUV crossover at the ongoing Japan Mobility Show (JMS). This marks the model’s first public appearance after its official images back in October this year.

As reported before, the facelifted Ariya comes with a gets a smooth, grille-less front. The front fascia has also been updated with newly designed LED headlights that are shaped to resemble the number seven. Other design features that have been updated include the removal of the side intakes and fog lights. Completing the update are the newly styled five-spoke alloy wheels featuring a fresh texture and a new exterior colour option.

Despite being a facelift, the EV SUV’s cabin design remains largely unchanged, preserving its minimalist dashboard design.  It also retains the widescreen display integrating dual 12.3-inch screens for both instrument cluster and infotainment system. However, the cabin gets a major software upgrade, in which the infotainment system now comes with built-in Google services, including Google Assistant, Google Maps, and access to the Play Store for downloadable apps.

Nissan hasn’t revealed any updates to the powertrain yet, suggesting the facelifted SUV will likely carry over the same setup as before. The previous version was offered in four variants; two with front-wheel drive (2WD) and two with all-wheel drive (AWD).

The 2WD lineup uses a single electric motor, with the base model producing 160 kW and 300 Nm of torque, powered by a 65 kWh battery that delivers up to 450 km of WLTP range. The higher-end 2WD version ups the output to 170 kW while maintaining the same torque, paired with a 90 kWh battery offering as much as 610 km of range.

Meanwhile, the AWD models feature dual motors, delivering either 250 kW and 560 Nm or 290 kW and 600 Nm, depending on the trim. They use the same battery options as the 2WD variants, providing WLTP-rated ranges of 430 km and 580 km respectively. The refreshed Ariya also gains a retuned suspension system designed specifically for smoother performance on Japanese roads.

Another key upgrade is the addition of Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) functionality, allowing the Ariya’s battery to power external devices. For now, the facelifted Ariya has been announced only for the Japanese market, with its official debut expected later this year.
