Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced that the monthly fuel quota for e-hailing drivers under the BUDI95 subsidy programme has been increased to 800 litres, which is “equivalent to 5,000km”. This was announced by Anwar in the Dewan Rakyat during the Ministers’ Question Time session.

He explained further that the decision to raise the quota was made after reviewing appeals from e-hailing drivers based on their actual fuel consumption. “There are e-hailing drivers who feel that the current quota is still insufficient,” he said. “Therefore … the government has agreed to increase the BUDI95 eligibility limit for qualified e-hailing drivers to 800 litres per month.”

Previously, the quota for full-time e-hailing drivers was 600 litres per month, an increase from the 300 litres allocated to other Malaysians. This, according to the Ministry of Finance, would have benefited more than 53,900 drivers nationwide, ensuring better support for those who rely on RON95 petrol for their daily income.

On another note, Anwar also announced that the government has agreed to include airport taxis among the vehicles eligible for subsidised RON95 petrol under the Subsidised Petrol Control Scheme (SKPS). To recap, the BUDI95 programme, launched at the end of September, allows eligible Malaysians with valid driving licences to purchase RON95 petrol at RM1.99 per litre. For most recipients, the monthly usage limit remains capped at 300 litres.
