The Infinix XPAD 20 Pro recently launched as an upgrade to the regular XPAD 20. Priced at RM999, the tablet serves as a budget-friendly option with AI-powered tools, many of which are focused on productivity.
Of course, given that this is more or less an entry-level device, one should not expect any fancy features. And for the most part, it does fulfill its purpose. If you’re hoping for more than that, though, you may just be disappointed.
What Am I Looking At?
I’ve already covered my initial thoughts on the device, but to recap, it’s an unassuming looking tablet with a minimalistic design. The camera module stands out as the most visually distinct part of the device, but other than that, it’s pretty ordinary as far as appearances go.
In terms of features, it sports four speakers arranged in pairs on opposing sides. The tablet also gets a dedicated microSD card slot. Oh, and there is room for a SIM card as well, although you are limited to 4G connectivity.
As mentioned earlier, there are a few AI tools, which can be accessed via the on-board assistant, Folax. Aside from the usual fare of image generation capabilities, there is also a problem solving function that’s meant to aid with homework and assignments.
Folax itself is powered by DeepSeek, which does come with its own quirks. And by quirks, I mean its tendency to ring the alarm bells at the slightest suggestion of mildly inappropriate topics, such as excessive alcohol consumption.
What’s Good About It?
Even with the thick bezels, the tablet’s 12-inch screen offers plenty of real estate. It’s a big surface to work with, so you can get by without a keyboard. The size also helps when you have apps open in the split-screen view, as there is enough space to navigate comfortably.
For the artistically inclined, you get a decent-sized canvas that is still pretty portable due to the slim form factor. Adding to that portability is its light weight. The device slides easily into your bag and can be forgotten until you need it.
The Hi Translate app is another feature worth highlighting, as it offers real-time translation for conversations. It’s suitable for face-to-face dialogue and meetings, and in the latter’s case you can save the transcripts for later viewing. I should note that the app censors any profanity, so your mileage may vary when dealing with potty-mouthed individuals.
What’s The Catch?
Well, for one, the display definitely leans on the dimmer side. As I mentioned previously, it’s sufficient for outdoor use, but only just. And on particularly sunny days, the contents on your screen all but vanish under the intense light.
Of course, one may argue that the dim display is easier on the eyes, especially when viewed indoors where the tablet will likely see the most use. Still, as someone who prefers to keep the screen brightness of any device at a minimum, I do think the XPAD 20 Pro could benefit from a little more light.
Aside from that, it runs on a MediaTek Helio G100 chip. It’s enough for productivity purposes and video streaming. But it will falter when faced with more intensive tasks, like running demanding games. You’re pretty much stuck on low settings when playing Destiny: Rising, with constant lags and stutters. But given the tablet’s size, you probably wouldn’t want to be gaming on it anyway.
Battery life is also decent at best, with the tablet lasting just over six hours in the usual video loop test. So, if you’re looking to have a movie marathon, you’d better be prepared to have a charger on standby. For what it’s worth, though, the tablet does better for day-to-day activities, lasting about a day and a half.
It is also worth mentioning that while the tablet does come with a screen mirroring function for displaying your phone’s contents, this feature only works with a meagre selection of devices. It’s a relatively short list consisting of Infinix and Tecno phones.
Should I Buy It?
If you’re on a tight budget and simply need a reliable workhorse, then the Infinix XPAD 20 Pro will suit your needs just fine. This is especially true if you’re already using an Infinix phone, as you will be able to take advantage of all of the device’s features.

Once again, the tablet is intended as an entry-level device, and it certainly shows. The dim display is decent enough for you to get the job done. Beyond that, it has a serviceable chip meant more for business than pleasure.
