Astro’s is once again kicking off its annual Home of Kids event, this time in Pavilion Exhibition Centre in Bukit Jalil. Though it is an event catered to parents and younger children, the entertainment company also took the time to debut a wave of limited edition routers with a familiar face.
However, the entertainment company will also be introducing the new Didi & Friends limited-edition Wi-Fi router that will be launching alongside the event. The wireless network device has been redesigned to feature the likeness of the three main protagonists of the Malaysian-made animated kids’ show.
As per the official press release, households can take the device home for “free” at the event by signing up for an Astro Fibre 500Mbps plan. The plan and router are advertised to go alongside Astro’s Wi-Fi Kencang package, which starts at RM90/month. The brand claims that this “promotion” offers savings of over RM2,000 for two years.
Based on the design, the routers in question are likely to be Astro’s very own RG21 Wi-Fi 6 routers. As a brief refresher, this router model made its first appearance back in May of 2022 and was made available for Astro Fibre customers in October of the same year.
Moving on to the event as a whole, the space featured various zones filled with toys and games for parents to purchase and children to take part in. Astro has partnered with popular children television and animation production companies, such as Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon, Disney+ Hotstar, and Monsta, to name a few.
Group CEO Euan Smith stated that the event is meant to promote “safe spaces” and “safe content” for kids to consume without worry. He also added that the Home of Kids is meant to be an experience centre for children where they can bond with their families.
The event as well as the router will be available from 12 to 15 September. It is also worth noting that admission to the event is free, with the venue opening at 10:30AM.
