Alleged Specs Of Next Intel Battlemage GPU Discovered; Codenamed BMG-G21

Some recent datamining efforts by diligent members of the internet recently unearthed what is believed to be a third Intel Battlemage SKU. The alleged GPU goes by the codename BGM-G21, which suggests that this could be the “entry-level” variant of the lineup.

The alleged details were discovered by one Lasse Kärkkäinen. Specifically, the BGM-G21 was tied to an 0xE209 ID that was added to the MESA repository. The addition alone, Kärkkäinen says, is an indication that Intel is clearly up to something.

@Haze2K1, @x86deadandback Now the 0xe209 is being added to mesa as well https://t.co/OijVif9ljb

Kärkkäinen goes further to suggest the alleged third Battlemage SKU could be rocking just 16 Xe2 cores, rather than the 18 and 20 Xe2 cores that the current B570 and B580 have. Additionally, Kärkkäinen also surmised that, should the BGM-G21 be released, it could end up being called the ARC B80, although that seems more like a comment made in jest, and not to be taken seriously.

As a quick primer, Intel’s Battlemage lineup officially launched last year but to date, it only has two SKUs, the B570 and B580. The latter GPU, in particular, has been hailed as a massive improvement over its predecessor, as well as lauded as being an excellent value graphics card for 1440p gaming, so long as it is just pure rasterisation and with ray tracing disabled.

Getting back to the BMG-G21, it’s still early days to tell if we’ll actually see the component made manifest; just because it’s listed on MESA doesn’t mean that its production is confirmed. Again, Intel is trying something but as it stands, it could just be experimenting.
