New unofficial details concerning Samsung’s next flagship smartphone series have surfaced online, further supporting speculation that the line-up’s Plus model may be discontinued. According to multiple reports, including one from South Korean publication The Elec, the leaks only mention the base, Edge, and Ultra models – omitting any reference to the long-standing mid-sized variant.
According to sources, the change is reportedly based on supply chain information and component orders made ahead of production. As it stands, the Galaxy S26 is said to feature a 6.27-inch display, the S26 Edge a 6.66-inch screen, and the S26 Ultra a larger 6.89-inch panel. These sizes are broadly in line with the previous generation, although the Edge model is now positioned to take over the mid-sized slot that the Plus variant used to occupy.

The Galaxy S25 Edge, which launched months after the main Galaxy S25 series, appears to have served as a testing ground for this new format. With decent uptake and user interest, Samsung seems to transition fully to the Edge branding for its mid-tier flagship. However, it remains unclear whether the Galaxy S26 Edge will debut simultaneously with the other models or follow on later, as its predecessor did.
The Galaxy S26 series is expected to launch in January 2026, following Samsung’s usual flagship release schedule. Apart from the display sizes, The Elec did not detail any other specifications of the next generation line-up, though chances are more information will surface before time through leaks and insider information.
