Apple, via its WWDC 2025 keynote, has introduced a design overhaul across all of its platforms, marking what the company describes as its most significant visual update since iOS 17. Dubbed “Liquid Glass”, this refreshed aesthetic is being rolled out to iOS, iPadOS, macOS, watchOS and tvOS alike – establishing a cohesive, modernised interface that reflects Apple’s evolving design direction.

Inspired by the look and feel of the brand’s VisionOS platform, Liquid Glass features a more fluid and responsive visual system with semi-opaque surfaces that subtly reflect light. The new interface distorts background elements while adapting to the colours behind them, lending a depth and material quality to elements like the dock, icons and widgets. Rounded corners throughout the UI and a soft, polished finish further accentuate the sense of visual fluidity.

Along with this reveal, Apple also introduced an all-new All Clear visual theme across its platforms, which ties the Liquid Glass elements together with a refined transparency effect that adapts dynamically to light and colour. This new look is designed to make the interface feel consistent across all devices while still keeping some unique touches for each one.

This year’s WWDC also revealed a revamp to Apple’s naming convention for its platforms. Confirming prior rumours, instead of iOS 19 or macOS 15, the upcoming updates will now be called iOS 26, iPadOS 26, macOS 26 and so on – reflecting the calendar year of release rather than generational numbering. According to the company, this shift is part of its efforts to streamline branding and better synchronise its software ecosystem.
