Apple Music Adds Sound Therapy; Features Universal Music Songs

Or more specifically, instrumental remixes of those songs.

Apple and Universal Music Group have announced that the former is adding Sound Therapy to Apple Music, using songs from the latter. Or more specifically, “extended, instrumental, and reimagined versions of popular tracks from acclaimed artists” like Imagine Dragons and Katy Perry. The idea is that these songs are specifically modified, and sorted into three categories, each serving a specific purpose, be it to help you focus better or relax, or even get better sleep.

In fact, the three categories have very self-explanatory names that are just called Focus, Relax and Sleep. The first one works by “tapping into the power of gamma auditory beats to help listeners get into the mindset to achieve optimum focus”, with white noise masking distracting sounds. For the second, this mixes in “theta auditory beats to help achieve ultimate relaxation”, with the last one makes use of “delta auditory beats or pink noise” instead.

Apple Music Sound Therapy Relax

Sound Therapy is the latest addition to Apple Music following the recent launch of the Chill radio station, which does the same thing as Relax and Sleep in a broader sense. These new versions of Universal Music tracks “was crafted by a team of producers, scientists and audio engineers at Sollos, a groundbreaking music-wellness venture incubated within UMG’s London offices”.

If you’re an Apple Music subscriber, then you should already have access to these new playlists, directly from the app’s home page. If nothing else, this would be a way to discover remixes in addition to using them for their intended purpose.
