Pre-registration for the mobile version of Valorant is now open, but it’s only available in China. Riot Games had confirmed the port’s development roughly four years ago, and this marks the first time that we get to see it in action – via an official trailer shared on Valorant Mobile’s official YouTube channel.

It’s unclear when the game will be made available globally, but according to the official Valorant X account, the company is eager to bring the game to “as many players as possible”. The post also stated that the plan is to start in China and take it from there, and that the company will share updates as the plan develops further.

Valorant Mobile is developed by Tencent-owned LightSpeed Studios, which has previously adapted PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds into PUBG Mobile. The official trailer for the game features some gameplay footage demonstrating how the mouse-based controls have been reworked for the mobile format. Based on what has been shown so far, it seems the game will feature large buttons that change depending on the situation and character being played. Instead of a uniform UI for all characters, the layout for the controls seem to be tailored for each character’s kit.

It’s still too early to tell how well Valorant’s fast-paced gunplay will translate to a mobile format, but based on the trailer, it seems that it does match its PC counterpart in terms of speed and intensity. Further, it is unclear whether it will be available on Android, iOS, or both. For now, though, players outside China may have to wait a while for a global release.
