AMD Zen 6 Medusa Ridge Ryzen CPUs Could Scale Up To 32 Cores

That's one interpretation of the leak, at least.

A recent rumour is currently pointing to the possibility of AMD’s upcoming Zen 6 CPU architecture, Medusa Ridge, would be the first time that the red chipmaker pushes the envelope on just how many cores a consumer-level processor can hold. In this case, the next generation CPU could house double the current peak core count at 32 cores.

The rumour comes from the zhangzhonghao, a leakster that consistently posts these nuggets of rumours on the Chinese tech forum, Chiphell. It’s unsurprisingly cryptic but based on the interpretation of Hot Hardware, the Zen 6 CCDs – those are the chiplets that hold the CPU cores, and are used in both Ryzen and EPYC SKUs – should come with 12 cores and 48MB of L3 Cache. In other words, a dual-chiplet processor could ship out with 24 cores and 96MB of L3 Cache.

Then there are the Zen 6c CCDs, which could have the full-fat 16 cores like the Zen 5c cores, just with double the L3 Cache at 64MB. Therefore, if the Medusa Ridge features a dual-chiplet design, that’s 32 cores and 128MB of L3 Cache.

To be clear, zhangzhonghao’s post about Medusa Ridge isn’t conclusive nor is it concrete. At current, it just seems to be speculation but to be fair, they have made some fairly accurate posts in the past. One such example is their prediction of the Radeon RX 9070 XT.
