This year’s Google I/O will be held from 20 to 21 May, the tech giant confirmed via its official blog. The event is slated to take place at the Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View, California and will be streamed live via the event’s website.
In the same post, Google says its newest products, technologies, and innovations in AI, Android and more will be the main highlights. However, the company has yet to reveal what exactly it plans to showcase during the upcoming event, though rumours are suggesting that the Pixel 9a might make an appearance.
According to a recent report by Android Headlines, the latest entry to the Pixel 9 series is expected to be unveiled on 19 March 2025, ahead of Google I/O. If the information is accurate, there is a chance the device could be highlighted during the event as well.
Additionally, the Pixel 9a is said to measure 154 x 73 x 8.9mm, making it slightly larger than the base Pixel 9. It will also be offered in the same colour options as the rest of the series: Peony, Iris, Obsidian, and Porcelain. Meanwhile, this variant is reported to feature a 5,100mAh battery—the largest ever in a Pixel—while charging remains unchanged at 23W wired and 7.5W wireless.
Apart from that, other information given is mostly what we’ve already seen before. Corroborating with past rumours, Android Headlines claims that the Pixel 9a will sport a dual camera setup on its back, consisting of a 48MP primary and 13MP ultra-wide. Similarly, renders of the product that’s included in the report also reveal an almost bump-less arrangement for the array, which technically would allow the phone to lie flat on its back.
