Messaging platform WhatsApp has announced a small number of additions in the spirit of celebrating the upcoming new year. As such, these additions are unfortunately only here for a limited time, though some should definitely benefit from staying for the long term.
For those without the luxury of traveling back home to celebrate with friends and family, WhatsApp is adding what it calls NYE Calling Effects. This is something that’s specifically for video calls, but are otherwise self explanatory. In short, you get a festive background, filter and effect that you can add to your video calls to emphasise on the festivities.
There’s also anew set of new year stickers that WhatsApp has added for the duration of these two weeks. Naturally, some are pretty specific to 2025, but the others are generic enough that they should still be applicable to other festive seasons. Equally applicable to other seasons but are oddly limited to the Christmas week are the Animated Reactions. Well, for a handful of selected ones.
As mentioned, these are only available for a limited time on WhatsApp. More specifically, they are only online from now until 3 January 2025, so make use of them while you can, if this is something that appeals to you.
