Chinese smartphone manufacturer vivo has become the first brand to release Android 15, outpacing Google, OnePlus, and even Samsung. The vivo X Fold 3 Pro and the vivo X100 series are the first devices to receive stable Android 15.
The rollout occurred shortly after Google launched the Android 15 AOSP (Android Open Source Project) build, paving the way for all Android manufacturers to update their devices with the latest software. AOSP provides the base for various custom Android interfaces, including Samsung’s One UI and OnePlus’ OxygenOS.
My vivo X Fold3 Pro just received Android 15 update.
Crazy how Vivo is the 1st major brand to be rolling out this out to their flagships. Not even Google Pixel has stable update yet.
Hoping for a just as good of an experience with FuntouchOS 15. Good job @Vivo_India. #Android15 pic.twitter.com/f4oSkKxfy1

The name, Funtouch OS 15, is clearly based on the Android 15 offerings. Features include an AI-powered “Eraser” as well as a shadow removal tool in the Gallery app. The update also brings along a Live Transcribe function that displays words on your phone as they’re spoken for users who are deaf or hard of hearing. Android 15 itself has features like Private Space for managing personal apps and partial screen sharing for secure collaboration.
Google has also confirmed that the Pixel 9 series and other eligible Pixel devices will receive the Android 15 update this October. Other devices expected to receive the update include nearly all Pixel models since the Pixel 6, along with the Pixel Fold and Pixel Tablet. Samsung’s Galaxy S21 and newer models, as well as recent Z Fold and Z Flip devices, are set to receive the update by the end of year.
