Acer has officially entered the handheld gaming market with the launch of its Acer Nitro Blaze 7 during IFA 2024 in Berlin today. The company’s first ever portable gaming device promises to offer an optimised gaming experience while maintaining a portable form factor, measuring at 25.6 (W) x 11.35 (D) x 2.25 (H) cm and weighing at 670g.
For starters, the Nitro Blaze 7 features a 7-inch IPS touch display with 1920 x 1080 px resolution, 144Hz refresh rate, 100% sRGB coverage, and AMD FreeSync Premium technology. Besides that, it comes with dual 1W speakers and microphones, power button with fingerprint reader, as well as dedicated buttons for Acer quick menu and Acer Game Space.
The handheld operates on Windows 11 and includes the new Acer Game Space application, which supports games from multiple platforms, allowing for seamless integration and access to a wide array of games. Acer adds that the app also comes with three months of PC Game Pass for added value.
The Nitro Blaze 7 is powered by an AMD Ryzen 7 8840HS processor, along with Ryzen AI technology for enhanced performance and responsiveness. It also includes AMD Radeon 780M graphics and Radeon Super Resolution technology for real-time upscaling and lag-free gaming, as well as up to 2 TB of M.2 NVMe PCIe SSD storage and 16 GB of LPDDR5x memory.
Acer’s Nitro Blaze 7 also focuses on user convenience and control, offering a dedicated hotkey that provides instant access to the game library, while its interface consists of four face buttons, a D-Pad, LB/RB Bumpers, LS/RS Sticks and LT/RT Hall effect triggers. For connectivity, the Nitro Blaze 7 supports Wi-Fi 6E for high-speed internet access, and it features various ports for accessory and device integration, including two USB-C ports with 65W fast charging for the built-in 50Wh battery, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a MicroSD card reader to expand storage.
The new Nitro Blaze 7 starts from EUR849 (~RM4,097) for the 512GB configuration, and is slated to arrive in Europe by late October or early November 2024. Acer notes that exact specifications, prices, and availability will vary by region.
