Samsung Will Produce AI Chips For South Korean Firm DeepX

The DX-M1 will be DeepX's first-generation AI chip.

Samsung Foundry recently scored a major contract and will produce AI chips for the South Korean firmDeepX. The first-generation AI chip, DX-M1, will be mass-produced using Samsung’s 5nm process node in collaboration with Goanchips, Samsung Foundry’s design house.

DeepX signed a contract with Goanchips to manufacture the DX-M1 chips, after receiving initial samples in June 2024. The DX-M1 is anticipated to be used by ten global companies this year and by up to 20 different firms in 2025.

DeepX has developed several prototypes with various process nodes, including 5nm, 14nm, and 28nm. The company, so far, has provided AI chips and development tools to over 120 firms globally, with more than 20 of these companies currently in the application development phase.

A DeepX representative stated that the DX-M1 chip represents a significant opportunity for the company to enter the global AI semiconductor market. The goal is to lead in the AI industry, integrating into markets in North America, Greater China, and Europe by offering high-quality AI solutions for the public.

Goanchips primarily serves fabless semiconductor companies that develop advanced products like AI processing chips. As a South Korean semiconductor design firm, Goanchips boasts a team of experienced engineers proficient in developing semiconductor technology.
