Tesla has announced price adjustments for its Model 3 and Model Y electric vehicles in Malaysia, seeing reductions as much as RM8,000. The move follows similar changes which the company has implemented in other major markets like the US, China, and Germany.

Effective immediately, the updated pricing for the Tesla Model 3 in Malaysia is RM181,000 for the Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD) variant and RM210,000 for the Long Range (LR) All-Wheel Drive (AWD) version. Additional charges of RM1,700 apply for delivery, administration, number plate, and order fees, in addition to on-the-road registration fees.

Notably, the recently introduced Model 3 Performance variant in Malaysia retains its original price of RM242,000, indicating no price adjustment for this model. Tesla has also maintained the pricing for add-ons in Malaysia, meaning customers still have to pay extra for options such as different colour choices, wheels, or enhanced Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) capabilities.

As noted in its press release, Tesla’s price cuts for the Model 3 and Model Y in Malaysia signal the company’s global commitment to accelerate the world’s transition to sustainable energy and commits to popularising the use of electric vehicles. It is also worth noting that its EVs are eligible for various incentives such as full import and excise duties exemption, 100% road tax exemption, and income tax relief up to RM2,500 for expenses related to electric vehicles charging.
