Apple is reportedly planning on making Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) a standard feature for the next set of AirPods, which are expected to launch next year. In addition to making ANC a part of its non-Pro lineup, sources close to Bloomberg say that the fruit company is also planning on shaking up next year’s lineup as well, with a new AirPods Pro model to launch in 2025.
Currently, only the Pro model, which is in its 2nd generation, comes with ANC, and is currently the only high-end pair of TWS earbuds that the company from Cupertino has. And no, the Max does not count, for the very obvious reason.
Apple’s current AirPods model lineup is currently in its 3rd generation, and starts at RM829 for the model with just the Lightning Charging Case. Add another RM50, and you’ll get the one with the MagSafe charging case. While it is pricier and sports definitive improvements than when the 2nd generation AirPods launched, fans of the earbuds have said that they still prefer the latter model, primarily due to the price tag.
It is to this end that Apple will show off not one, but two new versions of the AirPods, both with more distinguishable specifications. Specifically, the Bloomberg report says that we can expect the new models to look like a blend between the 2021 Non-Pro and Pro variants, along with shorter stems for both earbuds.
At the time of writing, Apple has declined to comment on these alleged changes to the AirPods lineup, so you’re also going to have to take this bit of news with the surgeon general’s warning on the consumption of salt.
