You may have seen in the news earlier in the week regarding the iPhone 15 line, and their tendency to run a bit hot. At the time, Apple has acknowledged that in addition to the initial startup process of the phones, a bug in iOS 17 also contributed to the issue. The fruit company promised a fix, and that fix has started rolling out in the form of iOS 17.0.3.

The update note prior to installing it is pretty straightforward too. In addition to the usual bug fixes and security updates, the company specifically mentions that the update also fixes the issue “that may cause iPhone to run warmer than expected”. Such was the reason that the company put forth as the cause of the issue earlier anyway, so no surprise to see the exact same phrasing here.

That being said, the company did also pin some of the blame on third party apps like Asphalt 9 and Instagram. The latter had already rolled out a fix on its part. It remains to be seen if the mobile game will still contribute to the iPhone 15 line operating at warmer than usual temperatures.

If your iPhone didn’t prompt you to install the iOS 17.0.3 update yet, you can check if it is already been made available to you manually. As usual, the process involves going to Settings > General > About > Software Update. Even if the update doesn’t show up immediately, such rollouts may take time before they reach absolutely everyone. If you’re interested in the security patches that came with this update, you can read the relatively short page about it, linked below.
