On Friday, Apple published a new support document for the upcoming  iPhone 15 lineup, which notably comes with a USB-C port for the first time in the iPhone’s history. When the series was announced, the company revealed that the iPhone 15 is capable of charging other devices using the approriate cable, but it did not specify the wattage until the support document came out.

Across the board, the lineup supports up to 4.5W of reverse charging when the phone is connected through a cable to AirPods, Apple Watch, and any other device that supports USB Power Delivery. Additionally, we now know through the support document that the iPhone 15 Pro models support USB 3.2 Gen 2 with data transfer speeds up to 10Gbps.

However, a major caveat to this impressive leap is that the included USB-C cable only supports USB 2 speeds. To be able to use the higher transfer speeds, a Thunderbolt 4 Pro cable must be purchased separately, which the company sells for RM399. All the iPhone 15 models suppport DisplayPort for up to 4K HDR video mirroring and with a USB-C to USB-A cable, they can be used for wired CarPlay.

In related news, Japanese blog Mac Otakara claims that the iPhone 15 Pro models are only capable of 27W charging, which is the same as its predecessor. If true, this is quite disappointing as earlier rumours speculated that the new phones would support up to 35W charging speeds.
