The vivo Y78 5G has officially been launched by the brand in the Malaysian market. It was first spotted on the SIRIM database way back in May, and as expected, the local version uses a Snapdragon SoC instead of one from MediaTek, with the latter being used in China’s variant of the Y78.
Starting with the display, it sports a 6.78-inch 1080p curved AMOLED screen with a peak brightness of 1,300 nits, a refresh rate of 120Hz, and an optical fingerprint scanner underneath it. Running everything is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 chipset with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. Aside from 5G, the phone also supports Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.1, and NFC.
For photography, the Y78 features a 64MP main camera with OIS alongside a 2MP macro lens and a depth sensor, while the front is equipped with a 16MP selfie shooter. Powering it is a 5,000mAh battery with support for 44W charging and it ships with Funtouch OS 13 based on Android 13.
The Y78 5G is available black and gold colours options, retailing for RM1,399. It can be purchased through the brand’s official Lazada and Shopee stores as well as authorised retailers. While stocks last, those who buy the phone will also get a free pair of wireless earbuds.
