AMD’s Ryzen 7000X3D CPU lineup is almost here, and leading the charge for it is none other than the Ryzen 9 7950X3D. But just like clockwork, the internet has once again found a way to provide us with digital sustenance of the said top-tier CPU, in the form of leaked information from an unnamed source.
The leak was first published on the Spanish-language tech website, HDTechnologia, and specifically, the details seem to stem from the reviewer’s guide that AMD usually provides to reviewers and tech journalists that test and benchmark PC hardware. For comparison’s sake, the red chipmaker has taken to comparing the performance of the 7950X3D against Intel’s current 13th Gen Core i9-13900K.
Moreover, the reviewer’s guide shows that AMD had tested both the 7950X3D and 13900K across the board with two different GPUs: once with the chipmaker’s own Radeon RX 7900 XTX, and the other with an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090. The 3D V-Cache-equipped CPU was then put to test on a total of 22 game titles, which include AAA titles like Borderlands 3, Cyberpunk 2077 and Watchdogs Legion, to name a few.
In the tables that summarise its gains, the 7950X3D is shown to be 6% faster than the 13900K on average, but it should be noted that the former’s performance does appear to taper off when it comes to more CPU-intensive titles like tactical RPG or sim-style games. Those gains, by the way, are shown with both CPUs running at Full HD resolution and with the 7900 XTX. With the RTX 4090, those gains jump up to 16%, indicating as well the prowess of the NVIDIA GPU against Team Red’s own flagship graphics card.
The AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D, along with the rest of the 7000X3D lineup, is expected to launch this week. Like the Ryzen 5800X3D, the lineup are processors that are beefed up by AMD’s 3D V-Cache technology that stacks their L3 Cache, effectively giving them three times the amount of L3 memory compared to their non-3D counterparts. The trade-off of this, however, is that these CPUs cannot be directly and physically overclocked.
