Remember the bendable monitor prototype LG showcased two years ago during CES 2021? If that display concept tickled your fancy, then you’ll be glad to know that its mass-produced spiritual successor, the LG OLED Flex TV, is coming to Malaysia and is now available for pre-order.

Despite being marketed as a TV, the LG OLED Flex looks like it could also work perfectly well as a computer monitor. In fact, it actually sports a design that’s more fitting for a desktop setup rather than a living room. But then again, most current generation displays have pretty much blurred the lines between monitor and TV; offering equally high resolution output, high refresh rate, as well as featuring pre-installed streaming or even cloud gaming services so you can use them on their own.

Of course, what sets LG’s latest display apart from others is its ability to flex its display from flat to curved – providing users with a more personalised viewing experience either for gaming or watching movies. The screen itself is a 42-inch OLED panel, offering resolutions of up to 4K (3840 x 2160 pixels), and variable refresh rate of up to 120 Hz. It also comes with Cinema HDR, HDR10 Pro and Dolby Vision IQ support, NVIDIA G-Sync and AMD FreeSync compatibility, as well as other image enhancements powered by the onboard LG Alpha 9 Gen 5 processor.

Users can adjust the TV’s curvature by using a dedicated button on its remote control, or by manually bending it in five percent increments – giving you over 20 levels of curves to choose from. The LG OLED Flex’s included stand allows you to tilt the screen towards or away from you, as well as adjust its height by 140 mm. Additionally, it comes with two front-firing 40W speakers with Dolby Atmos and Dolby Vision gaming support, and also a rear lighting system with five different modes.

Besides that, the OLED Flex TV has a built-in microphone, four HDMI 2.1 ports, three USB ports, and a LAN port. In terms of wireless connectivity, there’s support for Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5.0, as well as an IR Blaster.

Features-wise, the TV comes with two features that are currently exclusive to it. The first being the new Game app, which offers support for custom screensavers, shortcuts to popular apps such as Twitch and YouTube, and a detailed list of connected external devices – all on the same screen. Then there’s the Multi View mode, which allows users to view content from two different sources simultaneously and select which audio they want to hear.

LG has yet to confirm the exact date of arrival for the OLED Flex TV at this time. However, those interested may pre-order it now for RM 13,199 exclusively via the brand’s official stores on Lazada and Shopee.
