Musk Wants Someone Else To Run Twitter By Year’s End

The billionaire also aims to stabilise the social media company before exiting.

After plenty of drama before and after acquiring Twitter, it now appears that its current CEO Elon Musk has had enough. During the World Government Summit in Dubai, the world renowned billionaire has expressed that he may step down from his leadership role and appoint a new person to take charge of the social media giant.

“I’m guessing probably towards the end of this year should be good timing to find someone else to run the company,” he told the conference through a live video call. However, Musk added that he won’t be leaving his CEO role at Twitter without first ironing out some kinks, ensuring that it is in a “financially healthy place” as well as clearly laying out its product road map. He believes that the company should be in a stable position by the end of 2023.

This isn’t the first time that the billionaire stated that he intends to resign as the social media giant’s CEO. Back on 21 December of last year, Musk tweeted that he would step down as soon as he finds “someone foolish enough to take the job” and even ran a poll on the platform, asking his followers and Twitter users alike whether he should renounce his position. And probably to no one’s surprise, a majority who participated voted “Yes.”

I will resign as CEO as soon as I find someone foolish enough to take the job! After that, I will just run the software & servers teams.

While his plan of resigning as CEO sounds as if this would be the last we’d see of him in the company, Musk revealed that it might not be the case. In the same tweet mentioned above, the billionaire says he will still stick around in Twitter to “run the software and server teams.”

Past and current noise aside, sources told Bloomberg that Musk’s planned exit is also caused by the lack of his presence at Tesla, which is making some investors nervous. Despite this, he claimed that the electric car company as well as SpaceX (both companies which he also owns) actually require less work to operate when compared to three to five years ago.

So much better than that other guy!

For now, Musk has not named any candidates that could potentially replace him just yet. But in his typical fashion, the billionaire instead tweeted a photo of a dog, which he claims to be the “new CEO of Twitter” and is “so much better than that other guy.” Amusingly, the canine featured is actually Musk’s own Shiba Inu known as Fioki.
