The new Xiaomi 12 Lite has officially been launched in Malaysia this evening on 17 August 2022. In case you missed our previous coverages regarding the device, it is the latest addition to the brand’s current generation flagship smartphone series, which is intended to be a more affordable variant of the bunch.
As a refresher, the Lite mostly shares the same design language as its siblings, though it is the only non-S class Xiaomi 12 model to feature a flatter profile for its front, back and surrounding frame. Display-wise, the handset sports a flat 6.55-inch AMOLED panel with a refresh rate of 120Hz, touch sampling rate of 240Hz, HDR10+ and Dolby Vision support, as well as Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection. Besides that, it has a thickness of 7.29 mm and weighs at only 173 g.
The phone also comes with dual speakers, an under-display fingerprint scanner, and a USB-C port for data transfer and charging. Much like its global debut, Xiaomi is offering the new device in Lite Black, Lite Pink, and Lite Green colour options for the Malaysian market.
Internally, the Xiaomi 12 Lite is equipped with a 5G-enabled Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G chipset, which is paired together with an Adreno 642L GPU, 8GB of RAM, and a maximum storage capacity of 256GB. Additionally, it also comes with dual SIM support with dual 5G standby, Android 12 via Xiaomi’s MIUI 13 platform, as well as WiFi, NFC and Bluetooth 5.2 connectivity.
Powering the smartphone, meanwhile, is a 4,300mAh battery with 67W fast charging support. And just in case if you’re wondering, the company has confirmed that a compatible charger is packaged together with the Xiaomi 12 Lite.
As for its imaging capabilities, the Lite is equipped with a triple camera setup which is housed in a vertical island on its back. The array consists of a 108MP primary shooter, which is paired together with an 8MP ultrawide, and a 2MP macro sensor. In front, housed within the punch-hole cutout on its display is a 32MP front-facing camera, while found on the upper left and right bezels are “Selfie Glow” LED lights for added lighting to your self-portrait shots.
The all-new Xiaomi 12 Lite is priced at RM 1,699 for the 8GB + 128GB configuration and RM 1,899 for the 8GB + 256GB version. Pre-orders are now available via Xiaomi experience stores nationwide, as well as the brand’s official online stores on Shopee and Lazada. In conjunction with the launch, the phone is offered at a special pre-order price of RM 1,599 and RM 1,799 respectively from 19 to 26 August 2022.
