First announced to the world last November, ASUS today has officially launched the Vivobook 13 Slate OLED 2-in-1 laptop in Malaysia. The company claimed that the device is the first Windows-based 13.3-inch OLED detachable laptop in the market.

The 13.3-inch touch display has a native Full HD resolution and 0.2ms response time alongside 100% DCI-P3 colour gamut coverage and peak brightness level of 550nits. Protected by a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass and supports Dolby Vision contents, it is also a DisplayHDR True Black 500 certified and Pantone Validated display.

Not only that, ASUS also claimed that the OLED display on the Vivobook 13 Slate emits 70% less blue light as compared to the average LCD display in the market. In many ways, it is quite clear that the company has put a lot of focus into the tablet’s display.

In a rather interesting approach, the Vivobook 13 Slate OLED does not come with a built-in kickstand even though it may look otherwise. Instead, the sub-1kg tablet utilises a detachable stand that can be magnetically mounted on its back and can be used to position the Vivobook 13 Slate OLED in both horizontal as well as vertical orientation.

When it comes to processing power, the Vivobook 13 Slate OLED relies on an Intel Pentium Silver N6000 quad-core processor which has a base clock speed of 1.10GHz that can be cranked up to 3.30GHz. The convertible also comes standard with 8GB LPDDR4X RAM and 256GB M.2 NVMe PCIe 3.0 solid state drive in Malaysia.

The tablet is also accompanied by a detachable full-size keyboard that is said to feature a 1.4mm key travel distance. In addition to that, there is also the ASUS Pen 2.0 active stylus which has 4096 pressure levels, four interchangeable tips, and a battery life of up to 140 hours.

In terms of I/O ports, the Vivobook 13 Slate OLED offers two USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 ports, a 3.5mm combo audio jack, a microSD card reader, and a fingerprint reader that is embedded directly into its power button. Alongside the support for Dolby Atmos contents, the tablet also has a quad-speaker setup that works in hand with a built-in smart amplifier technology.

Not to forget, the tablet also has a 5MP front-facing camera and a 13MP rear camera. Completing its general specifications is a 50Wh 3-cell battery that is able to deliver up to 9.5 hours of battery life for the tablet and can regain 60% of its charge in 39 minutes when charged using the 65W USB-C that has been included inside the box.

Price-wise, the new Vivobook 13 Slate OLED can be obtained immediately through authorized ASUS dealers throughout the country and Shopee for RM3,499. In conjunction with its launch in Malaysia, ASUS is offering Touch ‘N Go e-wallet credit worth RM200 to the first 50 customers while an ASUS WT425 Wireless Optical Mouse will also be provided to all customers that purchased the new tablet by 14 February 2022.
