Astro earlier today has revealed its new TV packages just as the company rolled out the integration of Netflix into its Ultra Box. For existing customers that have been looking forward to combining Netflix with their existing Astro subscription, they have to move on from their current packages though before that could happen.

This requirement has been noted throughout Astro’s official website:

Under the newly revamped package line-up, access to Netflix via Astro is available starting with the Entertainment Plus Pack which has a base price of RM 129.99. Netflix is also available through the higher-end Premium Pack 2, Premium Pack 3, and Platinum Pack.

Do note that the actual pricing of these packages depends on the contract duration that you choose. Not to forget, you also have to factor in the installation fee which ranges from RM39.00 to RM349.00 and is based on the respective contract period as well as the installation method.

Another important thing that you have to take note is the fact that the default Netflix tier that Astro customers receive is the Standard plan. This particular tier provides content at Full HD resolution alongside the ability to watch content on up to two devices at the same time.

That being said, you can still opt for Netflix’s Premium Plan during sign up for an additional fee of RM 9.43. This tier allows users to watch content at up to 4K resolution and four devices at the same time as well as HDR/Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos enhancements on supported devices.

The error that you would encounter if you try to activate Netflix on its website while still being tied to the older legacy packages.

In a response to our question during the media Q&A at today’s launch event, the CEO of Pay-TV and Group COO of Astro, Euan Smith revealed that the company had a long conversation with Netflix regarding the Standard and Premium plan. Eventually, they settled on the Standard plan although Astro Ultra is 4K-capable, not all customers have a 4K TV.
