At the tail end of July, Jeff Grubb of GamesBeat and Jason Schreier of Bloomberg have reported that Horizon Forbidden West is delayed. The game’s developer, Guerrilla Games, have now announced the release date of the game. And the announcement confirms that it has indeed been delayed to next year.

As announced during Gamescom, Guerrilla Games announced that Horizon Forbidden West will be released on 18 February 2022. Which is definitely quite a bit away from the late 2021 window when the game was first revealed. That being said, with the ongoing pandemic going on, and so many other developers making similar decisions, it’s not really a surprise at all.

Horizon Forbidden West is coming to PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 on 18 February 2022! Pre-orders will begin next week, on 2 September. Are you ready to continue Aloy's journey?https://t.co/aMD8LIWbf8 #HorizonForbiddenWest pic.twitter.com/bRP3kToGji

But for what it’s worth, to make the wait less painful, Guerrilla Games has announced that it’s adding a few features to Horizon Zero Dawn on the PS5. Key improvements include 60fps and checkerboard 4K. And these improvements are free to anyone who already have the game.

Surprise announcement we know you’ve been waiting for: the Enhanced Performance Patch for Horizon Zero Dawn on PlayStation 5 is live now!

But back to Horizon Forbidden West. Guerrilla Games says that the game will be released on both PS4 and PS5 on 18 February 2022. The company says that pre-orders will be open starting 2 September. Naturally, you can’t do it now, but if you’re impatient, you can do so when the time comes via the PlayStation store.
