Alongside Operation Surge Capacity, the coordinating minister for the National COVID-19 Immunisation Programme (PICK), Khairy Jamaluddin has also announced that senior citizens aged 60 years old and above in Selangor and Kuala Lumpur can walk into any Vaccination Administration Centres (PPVs) within both states to get vaccinated.

The new policy which was first announced by Health Minister Dr Adham Baba yesterday will be in effect from tomorrow, 17 July onwards. Minister Khairy revealed that the guidelines for the walk-in vaccination will be delivered to PPVs throughout both states to make sure that senior citizens will be able to obtain their vaccine in a comfortable and safe manner including the establishment of a dedicated lane for them.

However, Minister Khairy has also noted that this walk-in vaccination policy is only applicable to senior citizens that have yet to receive their appointments in MySejahtera. If they have never registered for vaccination before, they can do it through manual registration counters that will be set up at the PPVs.

If required, especially for senior citizens that don’t have MySejahtera in their phone or don’t even have a smartphone to begin with, PPV’s staff will ask for details of their next of kin or caretaker. This is so that they will be able to provide reminders regarding their second dose vaccination appointment.

As for senior citizens that have already received their appointments, they should follow the dates that have been assigned to them or else, it could cause difficulties to the system. Minister Khairy assures that all appointments that have been provided to senior citizens in Klang Valley should take place by 1 August, as stipulated by the objective of Operation Surge Capacity which is to deliver at least the first dose to each adult in Klang Valley by the date mentioned.
