The GrabPay e-wallet is now integrated with DuitNow QR, enabling consumers to use the app at any merchant which supports the national QR standard.

For those who still don’t know, DuitNow QR is simply designed to integrate merchants into a single, massive ecosystem so that they can receive payments from any participating bank or e-wallet. It operates under Bank Negara Malaysia’s (BNM) Interoperable Credit Transfer Framework (ICTF).

To use GrabPay’s DuitNow QR feature, you just need launch the Grab app, open the QR scanner, and scan any DuitNow QR code to pay. With Grab’s Merchant Discovery, GrabRewards, and Save with Points features, users can also identify GrabPay DuitNow Preferred Merchants, earn points, and save money on every transaction. This could mean earning up to three times (3X) the GrabRewards points and using them to redeem discounts.

“We are pleased to be a participant of DuitNow Real-time Retail Payments Platform (RPP) ecosystem to enable retailers throughout Malaysia to serve Grab users, while consumers themselves will find it even easier to purchase essential items,” said Grab Malaysia Head of GrabPay Priyanka Madan.

Other e-wallets that have enabled payment via DuitNow QR include ShopeePay, Touch ‘n Go, and Boost. Grab (GrabPay) first announced back in November 2019 that it would be adopting the DuitNow QR.

Last month, online payment company Stripe said it will be integrating GrabPay into its system for businesses across Southeast Asia – starting in Malaysia and Singapore.
