Sony Malaysia, as revealed by its social media channels, is currently holding an ongoing promotion for its Xperia 1 II smartphone until 31 May. During this period, interested consumers are able to own the brand’s 2020 flagship at a discounted price of RM4,599, which is RM400 less than its current retail price.
As a quick refresher, the Xperia 1 II is Sony’s first ever 5G-enabled smartphone, equipped with a Snapdragon 865 chipset along with 8GB RAM and 256GB of internal storage. It also comes with a 6.5-inch 4K OLED display, which features the series’ signature CinemaWide 21:9 aspect ratio.
On its back is a triple 12MP camera setup consisting of a 24mm f/1.7 main, 16mm f/2.2 ultra-wide, and 70mm f/2.4 telephoto shooters. Housed in the upper bezel of the Xperia 1 II’s screen is a 8MP selfie camera.
Powering the Sony flagship is a 4,000mAh battery, and comes with both wired and wireless fast charging capabilities at 21W and 11W respectively. Lastly, it also features IP65/68 in terms of dust and water resistance.
Sony Malaysia noted that each purchase of the Xperia 1 II during this promotion will also come with free gifts while stocks last, including a Sony Store Premium Set, a phone casing, and a screen protector. It is also worth mentioning that only the Black, Violet, and White versions are being offered during this promotion.
On a related note, Sony’s smaller 2020 flagship, the Xperia 5 II, is also being offered at a discounted price during this period. Unlike its larger sibling, the phone is only offered at a RM100 discount, which now sees its retail price dropped to RM3,999 (originally at RM4,099). Sony’s website noted that only the Blue colour option of the Xperia 5 II is available for this promotion.
Meanwhile, as previously reported, Sony is expecting to launch the third generation of its Xperia 1 and 5 flagship smartphones in Malaysia this July onwards. The mid-range Xperia 10 III, on the other hand, is slated to launch locally sometime in August this year.
