Polish Consumer Protection Agency Launches Investigation Against CDPR

Investors have gone ahead with their lawsuit against Cyberpunk 2077 maker CD Projekt Red. And things are only getting worse for the developer, as it looks like government officials are also stepping in. The latest reports state that the company is now under investigation by the Polish competition watchdogs.

Polish newspaper Dziennik Gazeta Prawna reports that the Poland Office of Competition and Consumer Protection (UOKiK) is looking into the situation around the game’s launch. Spokesperson Malgorzata Cieloch said that the organisation has asked CDPR for an explanation as to what happened, and what the devs will do to fix them.

Should the UOKiK find CDPR guilty of being misleading prior to the release of Cyberpunk 2077, the company could be fined up to 10% of its annual income. This also applies to if the company’s efforts to fix the problems found within the game have been deemed inadequate. The overall refund policy organised by the company is also taken into consideration, which didn’t exactly go smoothly.

Things have certainly been bumpy for Cyberpunk 2077 and CDPR. The experience, even on the most powerful gaming PCs seem to be a dice roll. Plenty of bugs still plague the game. And the company has just last month fixed one that corrupts save files that got too big.
