Intel Core i7-11700K CPU Benchmarks Leaks; Almost On Par With AMD Ryzen 7 5800X

Intel’s next-generation Rocket Lake-S CPU lineup is expected to make an appearance at CES 2021 next month, and we more or less know what we can expect from it and the top-of-the-line Core i9-11900K. Now, alleged benchmarks of its alleged Core i7-11700K seems to have made its way on to the internet.

The leaked performance information of the 11700K comes in none other than a Geekbench table but more importantly, it is also being compared to its supposed rival, AMD’s Ryzen 7 5800X. Interestingly enough, the alleged CPU seems to be paired with a Z490 motherboard from Gigabyte, making it the second time such a pairing has been reported. And serves as a confirmation of sorts of the Intel’s promise that Rocket Lake-S will be compatible with current 400 series motherboards.

Getting back to its performance, the 11700K seems almost on par with the 5800X on single-core performance, but trailing behind in the multi-core portion of the test. Overall, however, the clear winner is still the 5800X.

Rocket Lake-S is expected to be the last of Intel’s desktop CPU lineup to be based on a 14nm process node, although it should be noted that its CPU architecture is technically backported from its more advanced 10nm SuperFIN process and Cypress Cove microarchitecture; both of which were first introduced with the semiconductor maker’s Tiger Lake mobile CPU architecture. Additionally, the CPU lineup is also to feature PCIe 4.0 support, unlocking the interface for the 400 series chipset, while being the default interface for the upcoming 500 series chipset.
