Cyberpunk 2077 was quite recently delayed to 10 December, and already there’s a new rumour about another delay. This time though, developer CD Projekt Red is quick to deny that there will be another delay.
Speaking to IGN, a CDPR rep says “As a rule, we don’t comment on rumours or speculation. But I will confirm we were just taking time to update all of our assets to reflect the new launch date 10 December”.
The statement is fine and all, but CDPR does currently have a track record that doesn’t inspire confidence. Just before the most recent delay to 10 December, the company announced that its staff will have to work one extra day a week because it couldn’t afford to delay Cyberpunk 2077 any longer. And yet, just a month after that, the studio announced another delay that was supposed to not be an option.
At this point, it’s probably best to take any news regarding Cyberpunk 2077 with a grain of salt. We should all be painfully aware by now the cost of taking CDPR for their word. But even if the devs had a more consistent track record, we should not be too invested in specific dates. After all, there’s still a global health crisis going on that’s disrupting the normal flow of things.
