Affin Bank To Shut Down Its AffinPay App Next Month

Affin Bank has announced that its AffinPay app which was previously introduced in 2019 will now be completely shut down beginning 1 December 2020. The app was first introduced to facilitate cashless transactions among its users. However, it looks like the app’s short tenure will now be coming to a sudden end in just a couple of weeks from today.

Through the AffinPay app, users with NFC enabled devices were able to perform cashless transactions at any Visa Paywave terminals. In addition to this, they could also make payments with personal bank cards while at the same time perform direct cash payments via their smartphones.

At the time of writing, Affin Bank has not provided any reasoning behind the shut down of its own app. However, it could be due to low app dependency among users or simply because the bank could be closing in on a new deal in the near future.

For now, Affin Bank has assured its customers that there will indeed be a new offering coming in the near future. Suffice to say, it could only be a matter of time until we see a new app to be introduced as AffinPay’s replacement.
